Hello and welcome!

I am a contemporary artist who strives to capture evocative emotions and the physical beauty of texture, form and light.  My studio is in the vibrant art mecca known as The River Arts District in Asheville, nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of western North Carolina.

Ancient Egyptians Meet Modern Art

I use a blend of modern and ancient creative processes in my work. I combine my modern art techniques with time-honored traditional mediums, specifically oil colors/pigments and encaustic wax paints. I make all of my paints and encaustic wax medium by hand myself, which I consider an enjoyable and crucial element in the alchemy of my creative process.

Combining new world tools with old, traditional painting disciplines satisfies both sides of my artistic nature; My love of emerging creative technology, and the tactile luminosity and texture of encaustic wax painting techniques that date back to the ancient Egyptians. I am constantly experimenting with new ways to visually represent my ideas that stem from the inspiration the world shows me every day.

I sign my work with the mononym “solo.” A nick-name from my childhood. (it’s a long story…)
